Tyler McPherron
About Me
I'm a crappy painter. Lucky for me, I can exercise my creative impulses through the kind of storytelling wonder brought to life though video. In 2009 I moved to San Francisco from Reno, where I spent a few years working at PBS after earning a degree in Digital Media Art and Broadcast Journalism. At PBS I learned to become a production specialist of sorts. As such, I've had the pleasure of playing a key role in the production of several of nationally distributed documentaries and TV shows.
What I enjoy about One Night music
The group of contributors and musicians ONM has pulled together is quite impressive, not to mention the caliber of content they've produced as a group. From the artfully shot videos to the high quality audio mixing and recording, it is clear that ONM takes pride in their production values, and I'm totally down with that.
Other Projects
Aside from my freelance video work, I'm also assembling and delivering bikes for the new San Francisco based bike company, PUBLIC.
Other Interests
Bikes & burritos.
Coffee & cameras.
Music & rooftops.

Marin Brennan
Marin Brennan graduated in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2008. She moved out west shortly thereafter to pursue animation and children's book illustration. She very much enjoys reading, swimming, biking, anything with peanut butter, and could live for days on cereal alone. She wants to be a mermaid when she grows up.
Other Interests
I moved to SF from LA, traded my car in for a bike, and I've enjoyed riding around as often as I can. I also go swimming all the time and have become a big fan of the SF Public Library. I've also got some great friends here, so it's be awesome hanging out with them and collaborating on cool projects.

Jono Schaferkotter
Two years into my college career, I discovered filmmaking. Surrounded by talented and motivated classmates, Laura Greenwood and I founded a working film group, named Before North. This group would prove essential to the creation of my films and eventually evolve into my production house.
My first feature length film was a docudrama about college life called "One: A Story of Six" (2004). Immediately following One, I teamed up with Jay Wertzler to write and direct the ambitious existential western, "The Ballad of Jacob Wonder and Wesley Precious" (2005). The film debuted a month before he graduated with a BA in mixed-media Art. Out of college, I began my career in web and motion design. While weekdays were devoted to paying the bills, evenings and weekends were spent with the production house. Passionate about supporting other aspiring artists, I wrote and directed music videos for Etcetera Etcetera's "Vampire Eyes" and Emcee T's "Wiggle Out".
After a year I was eager to return to filmmaking so I jumped genres to direct Devin Fearn's zombie cult screenplay. Over eight months, the Before North crew sacrificed all of their free time to produce The Beginning (2007). Their biggest success to date, "The Beginning" premiered to a sold-out audience of nearly six hundred people at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz. When I began freelancing as a designer, I moved back to music videos, creating pieces for Birds Fled From Me's "Under Bright Lights" and Tyler Parkford's "Out of Body Stunt Girl". After finishing my latest screenplay "NightLight", I realized that his new film would require far more capital than any of his previous work. In hopes to attract attention and investment, I wrote and directed my first short, Spaceman (2009). After a small sneak preview in February, Spaceman premiered at the Santa Cruz Film Festival in May.
Currently I'm working on tv spots and directing documentary that are taking me around the globe to places like Africa and China.
Other Projects & Interests
On the video side I make feature films, shorts, tv commercials, music videos and more. I'm currently recording my first album as well as finishing up a novel.
At my core I'm an artist and I'm currently creating pieces for a new exhibition in August that includes paintings, sculptures and video installations.

About Me
I have a passionate interest in story telling. I am attracted to the elements of communicating a message, a feeling, a setting, or time; with the language of film. My goals are to become a better story-teller. I began working in visual effects after college, beginning at CafeFX, then The Orphanage, and most recently Tippett Studios.
I'm currently trying to expand my knowledge and experience in working with other types of productions, whether feature-length narrative, short form narrative, documentary, corporate, experimental, and commercial.

About Me
When I am not editing I am writing. When not writing I am seeking out projects to edit. Someday I hope to fit directing in there somewhere. Whether it's drafting it on the page or cutting it out from hours of footage, my bottom line is visual storytelling. If music is involved, so much the better.
My story began in sunny Palm Springs, with a love of everything mid-century modern and blond hair as the products of such an upbringing. While leisurely spending my first two years of college at UC Santa Barbara, I met the lovely founders of One Night Music, Ryan Anderson and Elia Vargas. Back then, music was still the center of our activities as we frequently congregated around house shows, dance parties, and the like. My second two years of college brought me to the Bay Area were I earned my degree in Film Studies from UC Berkeley and promptly found a job in video post-production in San Francisco.
Other Interests
Adventuring. Shakespeare. Wine.

Cian Riordan
Let's face it -- these days, anybody with a laptop and a microphone can make a decent quality recording. They can put it on the internet, burn it to a CD, and get it out to the masses... something that was never possible before the advent of modern technology. This is fantastic for the artist and -- in true ONM tradition -- makes it capable to get heard without the headache of a major record label, or a Clear Channel radio station. However, something has been lost in the quality of the audio. The clarity in which you heard Miles' trumpet; the grit of Otis' voice; and the oomph of Bonzo's kick drum. These legends were recorded by seasoned professionals, people who knew what they were doing and wanted the public to hear what they heard.
My goal is to bring this quality back -- and to present One Night Music sessions to the world in all their stereophonic glory.

About Me
I am, above all else, a lover of music. My great-grandfather was a bandmaster in Northern Ireland, my parents met through the Sacramento Symphony and I've been a proud "band nerd" since the 3rd grade. My greatest musical achievement was playing the U.S. National Anthem in front of my entire high school, on beer bottles. Having since retired from bottles (but not beer), I can still be heard on the flute, piano and ukulele.
Professionally, I've helped to produce TV commercials and short films, worked for the California State Senate and taught English in Madrid. But at the moment I am best described as a photographer, designer and general creative gun for hire.

Role in One Night Music
My role in One Night Music continues to evolve. So far, my involvement includes, but is not limited to, booking One Night Music sessions, communicating with artists, coordinating some very talented contributors, producing One Night Music sessions in Santa Barbara and filming/recording new sessions on the road. Right now you'll find me doing my One Night Music thing somewhere between Northern California, San Francisco and Santa Barbara.
About Me
I grew up in a small town in Northern California and moved to Santa Barbara in 2003. In 2007, I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a BA in Music and Psychology. I stumbled across a little music studio with a lot of heart-Yellowbird Music-and taught children's music classes for nearly two years before leaving to pursue other interests. I currently teach music privately and continue to accept new students who obviously enjoy music and learning. I specialize in teaching music theory, piano and voice (my personal favorite) to young children and beginning adults. If you would like more information regarding private music lessons in the San Francisco Bay Area, please see my contact below.
I like arts and crafts. Also I can make a mean coffee.

when communities stare each other in the eyes, when the aestheticization of ideas exists on a comfy couch between two happy people, when music is made in images but not defined by sound, and what is becomes what ought to be, that might be success. then the interweb will be littered with random brain bits and crumbs of positive zeros and ones. then the digital zone will be forever neutral, forever horizontal, and dynamically mobile. and so, until then I will hold on tight, and kiss it gently with images and noise.

Description of role
I am the Founder of One Night Music. I also do sound engineering, audio and video post production, and sometimes booking for the sessions. I coordinate the amazing One Night Music contributors and work on maintaining our internet presence through YouTube and Facebook.
About Me
I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in June 2007 with a degree in Music Composition. At UCSB, I cultivated a passion for modern music composition, music production, and collaboration across artistic mediums. After college I started playing guitar and writing folk music. I scored a film with fellow One Night Music Contributor Elia Vargas called We Have Lost Our Wings, But Still We Dream Of Flying which was selected for and shown at the Santa Barbara International Music Festival in January 2009. Also in January 2009, I left a fulltime job to pursue, among other things, One Night Music. The vision for One Night Music came to me as a way to realize my passion for contemporary folk music, music production, and collaboration. One Night Music has become the focus of my work at the present and will continue to be the focus of my work as long as it continues to bring together such amazing people.
Record or Produce Your Music With Me
I have been recording and producing the music of others for about seven years. My study at UCSB taught me many techniques for recording, but my side projects are really where I have refined my production and recording skills. Since high school I have been setting up recording equipment and recording the music of my friends. Over the years I have refined my techniques and skills for recording through research, study, and practice. Combined with my knowlege in music composition, I am prepared to record and produce the music of others with a distinct interest in minimal production and maintaining the integrity of the songwriter. I do not have a website to display my work at this point, but I will soon. If you are interested in recording or proudcing your music with me, please contact me at Ryan @ OneNightMusic . com.
Other Projects
I involved myself in a myriad of other musical projects. I am a singer-songwriter, playing guitar, flute, and keyboard. I will have a website sometime in the next year to display my music in that realm. Additionally, I continue to write experimental music and I enjoy scoring films. I love producing music and continue to look for music of friends and other artists to record and add my touch to.
I also involve myself in a number of projects related to sustainability. I currently work as the Website Director for the California Student Sustainability Coalition and I work at Fairview Gardens farm in Santa Barbara.

Ian Andersen
Role in One Night Music
I make One Night Music availble to the masses through some complicated computer wizardry, some amazing open source software, and a lot of coffee. I work with the other contributors to bring their ideas to life through web design, development, and social media.
Interests in helping with One Night Music
To work with awesome local artists on a compelling project that makes people feel good is something that I was easily sold on. There's plenty of places to find music online, but we wanted to create one that was uniquely personal, yet polished at the same time. I knew that there would be a lot of committment involved in this project, but I've been blown away by the what I've seen from the contributors. Ultimately, I enjoy bringing to life ideas and projects that people are passionate about, including myself.
Other Projects
I work full time at a small software company, which is my main "other project". When I'm not working long hours at my job I work on the side as a consultant for small businesses/projects. And when I'm not consulting, I work for beer. And when I'm not working for beer I work for free.
